Love Yourself

An Intimate Night In

Does anyone else prefer staying in on Valentine’s Day rather than going out to some fancy restaurant where the tables are all way too close together and the prix fixe menus are all insanely priced? I decided to spend a lovely night at one of my favorite New York City hotels, The Plaza for a “pre-Valentine’s” date night. Room service brought up a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and all of my favorite pastries. This was the perfect setting to wear my La Volute Corset.

Defining The Female Form

An Intimate Night In

The corset has the most interesting story in the history of lingerie – would you say it was an instrument of torture or an erotic device? This is largely a matter of opinion. One thing is certain in terms of emphasizing the female form of exaggerating femininity, is that the corset still reigns supreme. However functional the corset may have been initially, its restrictive and deforming side effects remain firmly fixed in the past. It is impossible to say what the most appealing thing is about the corset. Is it the arched back or the slim waist? Is it the whole silhouette or simply the effect of lifting the breasts? Is it the thrill of knowing that the softness of the female body is encased while the wearer might enjoy the sensation of support, almost like being held very tightly? Perhaps it is the knowledge of how ultimately feminine, and subsequently how ultimately powerful a woman looks when she is so defined. When I am wearing a corset a different attitude comes out, almost like an alter ego. I feel much more in control and dominant after being laced up. However, it is a little difficult to explain what it is like to be in a corset as it brings out something different in everyone.

La Volute

An Intimate Night In

During the design process of my La Volute Corset I loved playing with different combinations of textured fabrics and colors. Sometimes I might have a particular treatment or silhouette in mind, but the challenge here was finding that perfect combination of elements to go into this corset. Although it is quite complex considering all of the fabrics and trimmings involved, I really enjoyed seeing the pieces come together. There is an underlying femininity and romance in my work, in that my goal is to help allow women to accept themselves as they are while making them look absolutely breathtaking. My La Volute Corset has a certain unique elegance that stems from an independent, modern woman who appreciates the appeal of good quality, fit and fashion. All women are beautiful, and it is my job to enhance that beauty with Corsetry. Corsets are the most intimate and enhancing pieces of clothing that present endless possibilities.

Do you currently own a corset and would like help styling it? Or perhaps you’re ready for a custom handmade corset of your own. Let’s get started! I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Please comment below.
