A LAVISH Birthday!

My Birthday At The Pierre Hotel, NYC

This year I celebrated my birthday at The Pierre, one of New York City’s most lavish Fifth Avenue hotels facing the iconic Central Park. The heart of the hotel is the grand oval space with the trademark wall mural, romantic atmosphere, and fairytale setting, known as the Rotunda Room. The Rotunda Room is a Renaissance loggia painted with New York’s elite including Jacqueline Kennedy and actor, Erik Estrada. It felt surreal to be in a place that these A-listers once stood and even lived in.

A Hotel For The Icons

Fashion designers Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Pierre Berge, Valentino and Tomas Maier have been guests of The Pierre. Actress Audrey Hepburn lived at the Pierre while filming Breakfast at Tiffany’s. For the past 20 years it has been home to designer Tory Burch. According to Taj Hotels, “The Pierre is a monument to NYC affluence and is a symbol of simplicity, elegance and class.”

A Piece To Match The Occassion

My Birthday At The Pierre Hotel, NYC

A few months back I purchased a piece of an exclusive, couture lace that is embroidered with whimsical floral appliqués. With its corded outline and scalloped eyelash edge, it has a three-dimensional appearance that makes its design pop. When I bought this lace, I knew I wanted to save it for a corset to wear for a special occasion. Once my birthday plans were set, I knew I had the perfect opportunity to make a memorable corset.

The Elements

My Birthday At The Pierre Hotel, NYC

This Champagne Corset features a shiny, satin fabric lining in the front of the corset for more coverage and structure of the lace. I sewed double rows of piping trim on the sides to separate the lace fabric I used in the front to the knit checkered fabric I used in the back. I also added a bugle beaded trim on the hem of the entire corset which are beads cut from long rods of glass that are thin and tubular shaped. It added just the right amount of shine to this lace corset.

Anytime, Anywhere, You Are Sure To Look Fab!

There are so many different ways this corset can be styled. I paired it with a pink, sleek and satiny midi skirt with a side slit and twisted waistband, lilac pumps and a lilac purse. But come fall, a pair of vivid deep blue denim jeans and brown boots will compliment this corset so beautifully. For a more formal event, this corset will look spectacular paired with an elegant silk taffeta full floor-sweeping skirt. Any way you wear it, you are sure to look glamorous.

Let’s get started on a custom handmade corset of your own! I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Please comment below.
